A new year begins…

Over the summer, we have a number of events that you’ll want to know about. We encourage all students to attend these summer activities. By attending these events you’ll be helping yourself prepare for life at ZHS, and will help our band program start the year strongly.

Band Camp (July 25th-July 28th)

A good year starts with a great beginning…. This year’s Band Camp will begin on July 25th at 8:00 a.m. in the ZHS Activity Center. Our Band Camp schedule is from 8:00a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but will include many breaks and activities. We are asking all students to contribute $30.00 & a case of water – to cover the costs of bringing in all of the snacks and meals for all four (4) days of camp. This is important… everyone needs to pay before or at Band Camp.

You will be spending time on the field learning to march and play our Broadway-themed halftime show. One of our major goals this year will be to have the halftime music memorized by the end of band camp. It is essential that all students attend.  (NOTE: only those students attending band camp may be able to perform in the first few football games.) The proper attire is shorts, t-shirts and athletic shoes.

Guard Camp (July 18th-July 21st)

If you are a Guard member, our Guard Camp will begin on July 18th at 8:00 a.m. In the ZHS Activity Center. Our Guard Camp schedule is from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. During this time we’ll be reviewing our performance fundamentals and learning our routine for the halftime show.

We have a lot of new faces this year, very high goals to achieve and a great deal of work to do in a very short time.  How well the year starts often determines how the year goes.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Zephyrhills High School (794-6233) or my home (783-7834) at any time.

P.S.   Even though this year’s band will be larger than the last few years, we’re always looking for new members. If you did not sign-up for band, but would like to make a change, just let me know. If you’re undecided come and try a day of Band Camp. I’m positive you’ll want to stay.

Please remind any other band members in case I missed getting them on my list. Also, if you know of any new band people who have moved into our area, please invite them to attend.
